She’s teething or at least we think she is. The past few days she has been very whinny. For no reason she will start crying. Not the blood red face I’m starving feed me now cry but the I’m hurting cry and need some relief. We finally got some stuff you rub on their gums to help with the pain. That seems to have helped some but not as much as we would like. Car rides are still good and after she cries for ten minutes or so in her crib she goes to sleep. Once she is asleep though she has been setting record for the amount of sleep. We put her down at 5:30pm last night. She woke up at 5:30am hungry. Amy fed her and then she went back to sleep until 9:30am. Let’s see how good she does tonight. Have a good one.
So after her bath at 8:30pm we decide to put her to bed.well that doesn’t last long. We have changed the diaper, fed her, and even held her for a while. The holding puts her to sleep but as soon as you lay her down the starts crying again and again and again. She has been doing so well lately. She has been sleeping all the way through the night. When I say all the way I mean all the way. From 9pm or so until 8 or even 9am. My wife loves how long she sleeps. But I guess tonight will not be one of those nights. Wish us luck.
Tired and sleepy……….
Grandparents. They love to be around there new grandchildren. The problem is trying to figure out who gets to hold the baby. Being around the baby all the time my wife and do not notice the need to hold the baby if she is content in her car seat. After taking a good look at it I have found that because the grandparents are not around the baby all the time they want to make the best of the time they do have. In order to accomplish this it requires effort on both parents and grandparents. We are trying to find a happy medium but could always use some help. If anyone has any good ideas please leave a comment.
One thing we have already noticed is the difficulty of Breastfeeding. We know there are certain times she is suppose to breastfeed but we have to wake her up sometimes and it is difficult to keep her awake. For those who are also having this problem I have found some solutions to help the situation. Check them out below.
If your baby is sleepy here are some suggestions to help keep the baby awake and interested:
make sure your free hand is supporting your breast so the weight of the breast isn’t on the baby’s chin
switch breasts as soon as the baby begins to lose interest in active nursing, this *may* need to be done every 30 to 60 seconds at first (the first few times you do it). You should begin to see a difference within a couple days of doing this.
Burp and change diaper. Burping should be done with the baby sitting supported upright on mom’s knee or lap rather than over the shoulder because it’s also less sleep-inducing.
nurse in clutch or “football” hold as opposed to cradle hold - it’s a little less “cuddly” and sleep-inducing.
massage the baby’s head (crown) in a circular motion while nursing. Also using a wet cold washcloth and wiping back against the grain of the hair growth can help Try this for several days and see if there’s improvement, and please update us as you can.
Place baby on your lap with legs near your tummy and head on your knees. Gently supporting baby, raise in sitting position, like doing a “sit- up”. Do this two or three times, then do “side to side” a couple times.
